Geneseo, NY—The Board of Directors of Genesee Country Christian School (GCCS) is pleased to announce that Mrs. Melinda Carroll has been appointed principal for the 2023-2024 academic year. Principal Carroll’s appointment follows the departure of Principal Betsy Flickner, who decided to pursue other professional interests this fall.
Mrs. Susan Teitsworth, chairwoman of the GCCS Board remarked, “At Genesee Country Christian School, we want our students to grow in their role as learners, responsibilities as citizens and relationship with their Creator. We believe that Principal Carroll will aid in this endeavor. She is intensely focused on student success, not only academically, but also socially and spiritually. Principal Carroll understands the culture of our institution and has been guided and mentored by Mrs. Flickner, assuring continuity for the future of GCCS.”
Principal Carroll, who holds a B.S. in Interdisciplinary Ministries from North Central University and an M.A. in Christian School Administration, brings a wealth of administrative and teaching experience to the position, having served in a variety of teaching and administrative roles both in the U.S. and overseas. She previously was Principal at Yonkers Christian Academy in Yonkers, NY and at The Christian Academy of Baguio, Philippines. Mrs. Carroll also served as Co-Director of the Mactan Deaf Center in the Lapu-Lapu school district in Cebu, Philippines and has been a substitute teacher for the Geneseo Central School District. Most recently, Principal Carroll served as a middle school teacher at GCCS.
Dr. Daniel Zerbe, vice president of the GCCS Board said, “In her time at Genesee Country Christian School, Principal Carroll has demonstrated a deep commitment to excellence, to understanding students’ needs and to individualizing their educational paths. She is a gifted educator and administrator who cares deeply about her students and the GCCS mission.”
Principal Carroll said, “Every student is unique and important. I am excited to work with our dedicated faculty in giving students a solid, well-rounded educational foundation as we strive together in God’s wisdom.”
Principal Carroll and her husband have two grown children. They reside in Geneseo.
